Humpty Dumpty Brewery will be participating in the inaugural Brewers Market at Snape Maltings this Sunday, July 26th, from 12 Noon to 6PM.  Come out to sample beers from 12 different East Anglian micros and talk to the brewers.  More details here.

Reedham Beer Festival 2009 - Mopping Up

We've all just come in from three days of great fun at this year's Reedham Beer Festival.  This is the second year the brewery has run the event, with this year's attendance up by more than 50% over last year's.  This is partly due to hosting an extra session on the Friday night and partly due to the massive turnout for the main session on Saturday.  Great luck with the weather didn't hurt, either...

Overall, we tapped 36 different beers during this year's festival and emptied most of them, along with six different Norfolk ciders.  The fastest seller of the event was Crouch Vale's Golden Duck, which sold out in under two hours. 

We collected "best of session" votes each day, and the winners were:

Friday - Green Jack - Summer Dream
Saturday - Mighty Oak - Mixed Doubles
Sunday - Castle Rock - Elsie Mo

The overall winner, as judged by having received the most votes, was Mighty Oak's Mixed Doubles.

The entertainment was first rate again this year, and we are much obliged to local chaps Karl and Danny for standing in for the late cancellation by the morris dancers due to illness.  We had visits from passing cycling groups, the crew of the wherry Albion, which tied up at Reedham for a few hours and the Iceni branch of the Morris Minor Owners' club, who brought about two dozen fine old motors out to show in the sun on Sunday afternoon. 

Our special thanks go to the folks from the Reedham and District Community Association, who supplied the food and ran the kitchens and barbecue.  We also thank our many volunteers from Norwich and Norfolk CAMRA who helped to staff the bars, and all of those who helped us to get the marquees taken down and stored away in under two hours last night.

We are all exhausted after three great days, but here's hoping we'll be back at Reedham Village Hall again next year for an excellent event.  (Photos to follow shortly).

Latest Information for Reedham Beer Festival

We have just finalised the beer list (download pdf)  for this year's Reedham Beer Festival.  We've got a great line-up of beers from East Anglia and beyond, with some old favourites, some new arrivals and a full range of beers from Humpty Dumpty Brewery.  We will also have ciders from three local producers:  Norfolk Apple Company, Whin Hill and Crones.

The festival will take place at the Village Hall and Playing Fields, Pottles Lane, Reedham, NR13 3HL (google map). The hall is a very short walk from Reedham railway station and the route will be signposted.

The Beer Festival will operate the following hours:

Friday, July 10th:  6PM - 11PM

Featuring toe-tapping jazz from the Dixie Jazz Bandits with Mary Lou Lambert from 8PM - 10PM.

Music this afternoon will feature Acle's 9 Out Of 10 Cats performing rock 'n' roll from 4PM - 7PM and in the evening local folkie Jon Collorick will play from 8 - 11PM.

The Golden Star Morris from Norwich will once again be dancing out on Saturday afternoon from around 12:30 - 2:30PM, and if that's not enough Morris we'll also be welcoming the Norfolk and Suffolk branches of the Morris Minor Owners Club on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
