    Open Weekend 2011

We would like to welcome you to visit Humpty Dumpty Brewery on 10-11 December, from 12 Noon - 5PM.  It's a perfect opportunity to come by the brewery, try a wide range of our real ales, including Christmas Crack, have a look around the brewery and meet the brewery team.

As usual, we'll be featuring foods made with Humpty Dumpty ales.  We'll also have mulled local cider and soft drinks for drivers and the little ones (the event is family-friendly).

The shop is open over the weekend and is an ideal opportunity to buy real ale Christmas presents, including three-packs, mixed cases and sportswear as well as other local produce.  We are also starting to take Christmas polypin orders. You can download our 2011 Christmas Polypin Order Form and arrange your orders for collection before Christmas.

The Birth of a New Beer

    Cleaning-chat-01-copy

We've been working with local photographer David Taylor over the past few weeks to document the production of our new Festival Special beer.  David came out to the brewery for a brewday and captured the essence of what it takes to get the beer made. He came back later for the initial tasting, and joined us at the Trade Session at the Norwich Beer Festival for the launch of the special.  He's posted a fantastic narrative of his photo shoot to his blog, Lunch Tweet.  We love his style - the angles, the colours, the opportunistic glimpses of our team hard at work. Have a look at some of his other work on his blog - he's got one of the best jobs in the county!

After all that hard work, we're happy to announce that the Festival Special was the gold medal Bitter at its inaugural appearance at the Norwich Beer Festival last week. We'll be selling this as the first of our Special range of beers - see the previous entry.

    Launching our "Special" Range

HD Special_bgWe are launching our latest beer, currently called "Festival Special" for the CAMRA Norwich Beer Festival from 24-29 October.  We'll be selling this beer to pubs and clubs following the launch, and this will be the first outing for our Special pumpclip, which includes a QR code where you can use your iPhone or other mobile device to read more information about the beer on the Humpty Dumpty Brewery website.

Our festival special this year had a working title of "Low, Light and Hoppy".  It is 3.6% alcohol by volume and was brewed with 100% lager malt for its extraordinarily pale colour.  (No, it's not a lager).

The beer was hopped several times with a combination of American hops - Cascade and Summit - and for a beer its size it is packed with flavour, but finishes nicely dry to avoid seeming too much like grapefruit juice.

Keep an eye out for further editions of Humpty Dumpty Special... it will be different every time, and we'll update the website to let you know what to expect.
